Champion Hills was the first course we played up north in the 2022 season. Being so early in the season you do not expect a manicured course with perfect greens and honestly, the course grounds were not at their best that day. But you could tell that as the weather warms up and maintenance continued that would change and this was a course worth playing.
Champion Hill Golf Course is located in Benzie County in Northwest Michigan. It is a public golf course that features 18 holes of golf, with a par of 72. The course was designed by Jim Cole and Lee Stone.
The golf course is located in Beulah, a popular tourist destination on the shores of Crystal Lake in northern Michigan. There are plenty of opportunities for swimming, boating, and fishing. The area has a variety of shops, restaurants, and accommodations for visitors to enjoy.
Like most Northern Michigan golf courses, Champion Hill Golf Course offers scenic views. The course has a challenging layout, with hazards strategically placed throughout the course. The course has a driving range and practice putting green for golfers to warm up before their round.
The clubhouse offers some snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. They do allow outside alcohol.
Golfing at Champion Hill was in the early spring, but the guys had a blast. Read more in our May 1, 2022 Newsletter. Make sure you don’t miss an issue by clicking on Golf Up North Newsletter and subscribing to our monthly newsletter.
