The Rock Golf Course is one of those golf courses that has been part of our travels for a long time.
The galleries below span more than a decade, with pictures from 2014, 2016, and 2025. Each one comes from a different trip and has its own story.
The 2014 pictures came from one of the guys’ trips to Drummond Island. The guys have made a tradition of heading to the island in May, usually working a course or two into the trip along the way and getting at least one round in at The Rock while they’re there.
In 2016, I got my turn.
We headed to Drummond Island to visit friends who have a cottage there, and naturally we managed to work some golf into the visit.
Funny how often that happens.
Then Guy and I returned in 2025 for a late season golf weekend of our own and stayed at the Drummond Island Resort.
The Rock was designed by Harry Bowers, but what really gives this course its personality is Drummond Island itself.
You’re golfing through dense woods, elevation changes, and the limestone outcroppings that are such a recognizable part of the island’s landscape.
It feels like the course belongs there.
There are places where the natural surroundings are simply something pretty to look at while you golf.
At The Rock, they’re part of the golf.
Sometimes that’s beautiful.
Sometimes that’s challenging.
Sometimes it’s both on the same hole.
What I enjoy about having galleries from three different years is being able to look back at how long this course has been part of our golf travels.
The guys were playing it in 2014.
We were there visiting friends and golfing in 2016.
And more than a decade after those first pictures were taken, Guy and I were back in 2025 playing it again.
Different trips.
Different years.
Different memories.
Same golf course.
That’s one of the things I love about courses we return to over the years. Eventually, they become more than another place we’ve played.
They become part of our golf story.
The Rock has definitely become part of ours. ⛳
The Rock Golf Course is on Drummond Island and part of the Drummond Island Resort. We have played it several times since a friend has a cottage on the Island. The guys make an annual trip every May. They usually play a course or two on their way to the Island and get at least one round in at the Rock.
The Rock Golf Course was designed by Harry Bowers. Drummond Island’s natural terrain of dense forests and limestone outcroppings provides many elevations changes and many challenges. The natural landscape enhances your golfing experience.
