Pine View Highlands Golf Course Photos

Some golf courses just feel like somebody really cares about them.

That was our impression of Pine View Highlands Golf Course from the moment we arrived.

We were spending a weekend at Alex’s cabin near Harrison and decided to take a drive over to Pine View Highlands in the Houghton Lake area.

It turned out to be a really good choice.

We played on a beautiful July morning, and one of the first things I noticed was how friendly everyone was.

And I mean everyone.

Staff, golfers, people we encountered around the property. It was simply one of those places where you immediately felt welcome.

Then we got out on the course.

Pine View Highlands has more of a parkland feel, with plenty of trees and a few tighter fairways mixed in with holes that give you a little more room to breathe.

I tend to appreciate those holes.

My golf ball does too.

What really stood out, though, was how well everything was cared for. You could tell the owners weren’t just maintaining a golf course. They were actively working to make the entire property better.

When we played, they had already built a beautiful new patio and were in the middle of working on the clubhouse and restaurant.

There was progress happening right in front of us.

Since our visit, that work has been completed and the clubhouse and restaurant are now open. It’s fun to look back at our pictures knowing we caught Pine View Highlands in the middle of that transformation.

There is something I really appreciate about a golf course where you can see pride of ownership.

It doesn’t require a fancy resort, a famous course designer, or a huge clubhouse. You can usually feel it in the little things.

How the course is maintained.

How you’re treated when you walk through the door.

How the property looks.

And whether you leave wanting to come back.

We definitely left Pine View Highlands wanting to come back.

Of course, spending a beautiful July morning golfing with Alex didn’t hurt either.

Good course, good people, good company.

That’s a combination that’s pretty hard to beat. ⛳
