Hell’s Point Golf Club is the first course I golfed at after my son moved to Virginia Beach. This was wedding week and the plan was to have a little golf outing with anyone who wanted to golf. The bride had to have emergency surgery so things were delayed a little. Once she was out of surgery and feeling better she made the groom go to the golf outing. My other 2 sons and me ended up “hosting” the outing. It was late September and it had rained a lot. The course is located in the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge and the grounds were soaked. To add insult to injury the grass in the fairway was like a sponge, not only did it hold a lot of water, but it grabbed your ball and didn’t let go. Still, we were there for a happy event, my first son to get married and the bride handled surgery like a trooper and was out in time for the rehearsal. The mood was festive and no matter how wet and muddy we were at the 18th hole, we had a blast. For the record all but a few of the 20 something year old’s wimped out after 9 holes. LOL
