Sometimes you go back to a golf course and something feels different.
When Guy and I returned to Grandview Golf Course in Kalkaska in 2025, it didn’t take us long to notice something was definitely different.
We got to the first hole and I thought, Wait a minute. This isn’t Hole 1.
At least it wasn’t the Hole 1 I had pictures of from 2023.
For a moment, I probably questioned my picture taking and record keeping skills.
Turns out, I wasn’t losing my mind.
Sometime between our 2023 and 2025 visits, Grandview did a little switcheroo. The front and back nines were flipped.
So the Hole 1 photographed in 2023 is now Hole 10. The old Hole 10 is now Hole 1, and the same goes for the rest of the course.
That makes this particular picture gallery kind of interesting because we have photos from both before and after the change.
Our first Golf Up North visit came in 2023 when Josh played Grandview with a buddy who is a very good golfer. They both came back with good things to say about the course. Their verdict was pretty simple. Grandview was nice and a lot of fun to play.
Guy and I finally played it ourselves in 2025, and we agreed.
By then, though, it wasn’t just the order of the holes that had changed.
Grandview had been getting a fresh look. The restaurant area had been remodeled, and improvements around the property gave the whole place a noticeably updated feel.
It’s always fun to return to a Northern Michigan golf course after a few years and see that kind of investment being made.
More importantly, we enjoyed the golf.
Grandview has enough variety to keep the round interesting, and with four sets of tees, you can choose the distance that makes sense for your game.
Although, as I’ve learned repeatedly, selecting the correct tee box does not guarantee selecting the correct golf shot.
That’s apparently still up to me.
If you’re looking through our pictures below, pay attention to the dates. The 2023 pictures show the old hole numbering, while the 2025 pictures show the course as it is numbered today.
We didn’t accidentally mix up the front and back nine.
Grandview did it for us. ⛳
