Emerald Vale Golf Course Photos
My first introduction to Emerald Vale Golf Course came through one of the guys’ golf trips.
In 2021, Emerald Vale was the first stop on their Northern Michigan golf weekend before they continued on to Mackinaw Club Golf Course and eventually crossed the bridge to play Wild Bluff Golf Course the Upper Peninsula.
I wasn’t along for that trip.
Three years later, I finally got my turn.
In May 2024, I played Emerald Vale with Guy and two of his brothers, a combination that pretty much guarantees I’m going to have a good time on the golf course.
And I did.
Emerald Vale is in Manton, not far from Cadillac, and one of the things you’ll notice as you make your way around the course is the terrain. There is more than 120 feet of elevation change, which makes for some great views and some interesting golf.
It also means there are times when standing on the tee box and thinking, Well, this should be interesting, is entirely appropriate.
The course was designed by Bruce Matthews III, and the rolling Northern Michigan landscape is a big part of the experience. There are holes where the elevation works in your favor and others where it definitely doesn’t.
That’s golf.
What I remember most about my first round at Emerald Vale, though, is simply how much fun we had.
There are courses where I can tell you exactly what I shot, which holes gave me trouble, and where everything went wrong.
Then there are rounds where what sticks with me is who I played with and how much we laughed.
Emerald Vale falls into that second category.
Playing with Guy and his brothers is always a good time, and it was fun to finally experience a course they had first played together back in 2021.
The guys liked Emerald Vale on their first visit.
After finally getting there myself, I understand why.
And now the pictures on this page aren’t just from one of the guys’ golf trips.
I finally got to add some of my own. ⛳
