We talk a lot about how great golf is in Northern Michigan. No matter where else we have played we always look forward to returning home to our Northern Michigan golf courses. We believe that some of the very best golfing is right here in Northern Michigan. We are not the only ones that think that. Golf Digest reviews course all over the world and looks for the best places to add to their “best” lists. Year after year Northern Michigan always shows strong. Golf Digest released their ranking of the best states for public golf. The ranking is based on the 100 greatest public courses in the country. Wisconsin Ranked first with 10 courses that made the list, followed by Michigan and California tied for 2nd with 9 courses making the list.

Of the nine Michigan golf courses listed, 7 of them are here in Northern Michigan. We all know how special golf is in Northern Michigan, now the rest of the world does as well.

The nine Michigan golf Courses that made the 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses list and their ranking are below. Northern Michigan’s courses are in bold.

Golf Digest also ranked Michigan’s best golf courses. The golf courses could be public, private, or semi-private. Once again Northern Michigan Showed up in force. Out of 35 courses, Northern Michigan grabbed 15 of the top spots.
